PreK-2nd Grade Activities

To access the virtual presentations, click on each title which will direct you to a video presentation in Google Drive. There are also links to hands-on supplemental activities. For best experience, we encourage the community visiting the Virtual STREAM website to access via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. If you have a Google account, we also encourage you to be logged on.

Course: Introduction to Gender Studies (SOC 130)

Description: Children will listen to an excerpt from the book
What Are Your Words?: A Book About Pronouns by Katherine
Locke and Anne Passchier. Next, they will  be encouraged to participate in a
discussion after listening to the short passage about what pronouns are, why they are important, and how they use pronouns in everyday life. Children will practice sharing their pronouns with those immediately around them (parents, guardians, siblings, peers, etc.), and practicing the pronouns of those around them. They will also discuss proper or improper usage of pronouns and how proper or improper usage of pronouns can affect themselves and those around them.

Description: Children will watch a tutorial video that shows them how to make binoculars that lets them see like an owl! After watching the video, youth are encouraged to gather the suggested materials to make their own set of owl binoculars and visit the following website to learn more about owls!

Course: Introduction to Women's Studies (SOC 120)

Description: Students will learn about Amelia Earhart's accomplishments while creating their own airplane with cotton ball clouds. The goal is for children to learn about Amelia Earhart's accomplishments and feel inspired. More so, to complete an art activity to help them feel productive and excited about school activities.
